2010 Census Starts in March

According to the U.S. Census, questionnaires will be mailed or delivered to every household in the United States in March 2010. The Census Bureau must count everyone and submit state population totals to the U.S. President by December 31, 2010. If households do not respond, they will be called or visited by a Census worker. If a census worker comes to your residence, ask to see their official U.S. Census Bureau identification badge. More information about the U.S. Census is available at www.2010census.gov.

Annual Food Drive Is A Success - September 2009

The fifth annual Summer Food Drive for the Stayton Community Food Bank was a great success this year. The event, sponsored by Stayton Cooperative Telephone Company (SCTC), collected over 3600 pounds of food and $1,000 cash during the months of August and September. The event was community wide with over 30 local businesses and organizations participating. Edna Rickman, Director of the Food Bank, said, “We would like to thank SCTC and all these local businesses and organizations for their support and we hope that more will participate next year.” Any business or organization wishing to join the Food Drive in 2010 should call Mike Reding, Marketing Coordinator for SCTC, at 503-769-8807.
