There have been a rash of complaints about a scam involving “Windows Technical Support.” The caller identifies themselves as the “Windows Technician” and tells the customer that your computer has alerted Windows Support and it is full of viruses. The caller tries to talk the customer into allowing them to get remote access to their computer or they will guide the customer through a set of clicks that finally allows the Technician to gain access to the customer’s private information, including financial data and credit card numbers. If you get this call, hang up.
